Today, these tasks include the mundane, such as plagiarism checking and spam filters, as well as the more exciting, such as self-driving vehicles. However, the amount of tasks which can be completed using artificial intelligence is quickly growing, with many technology companies constantly pioneering new technologies which can be used to better humanity in the very near future.

Machine Learning is how we are teaching the artificial intelligence machines of today. The complexity of artificial intelligence is so great that it is an impossible task for a human programmer to create an intelligence on their own. While a small set of code can be understood, the whole process of how an intelligence thinks is beyond comprehension. An intelligence learns through processing data; the more data that an intelligence has, the better that it will be at completing its task. This is why large tech firms such as Google are pioneers in AI technology: they have access to a magnitude of data due to the prevalence of their products in everyday life.
